Heartopia x New Legend of Madame White Snake: Collab Confirmed
By Michael Pras
Heartopia has teased its next crossover: a collaboration with New Legend of Madame White Snake, arriving September 30 under the name "One Umbrella, Fate Begins." Beyond the date and title, the announcement is light on specifics for now, but the source material and the artwork itself give a decent read on what's coming.
The Source Material
New Legend of Madame White Snake is one of Chinese pop culture's most enduring romances — a 1992 television adaptation of the centuries-old Legend of the White Snake folk tale, following Bai Suzhen, a snake spirit who takes human form and falls in love with a mortal man, Xu Xian. The story has been remade repeatedly across film, TV, and animation ever since, but the 1992 version remains the one most widely recognized across Chinese-speaking audiences, which makes it a natural pick for a nostalgia-driven crossover rather than a newer adaptation.
What the Teaser Shows
The announcement art leans directly on the legend's most iconic imagery: two figures crossing a stone bridge over water, sharing an umbrella beneath willow branches and blooming lotus flowers. The umbrella specifically nods to one of the story's best-known moments — Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian's first meeting in the rain — which lines up with the collaboration's title. Expect the eventual in-game content to lean on this same romantic, classical-Chinese aesthetic Heartopia has used for past cultural collaborations, likely translated into furniture, outfits, or a themed event space given how the game's previous crossovers have been structured.
What's Not Confirmed Yet
Beyond the date and name, Heartopia hasn't detailed what the collaboration actually includes — no event structure, cosmetic list, or gameplay mechanics have been announced. Treat anything beyond "September 30" and "One Umbrella, Fate Begins" as speculation until Heartopia's own patch notes or a follow-up announcement fills in the details.
