Free Fire Rank System: Every BR and CS Tier from Bronze to Grandmaster
By Sir Ayup
The Free Fire rank system runs two separate ladders, one for Battle Royale (BR) and one for Clash Squad (CS), and both climb through the same tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Heroic, Elite Heroic, Master and Elite Master, with Grandmaster reserved for the top 300 players on each regional leaderboard. BR ranks are earned with Rank Points from survival and kills, while CS ranks are earned with stars from winning matches. Both ladders reset partly at the start of each new season.
This guide explains every BR and CS tier, how points and stars work, how Grandmaster is decided, what happens at a season reset, and how to climb more efficiently.
The Free Fire Rank List

Both modes use the same tier names, from lowest to highest:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Heroic
- Elite Heroic
- Master
- Elite Master
- Grandmaster
The lower tiers are split into sub-tiers, such as Bronze I, II and III, and Gold I to IV. Each sub-tier needs a certain amount of progress to pass. The upper tiers, from Heroic onwards, are wider bands where the climb slows down and every match counts for more.
Garena adjusts the exact thresholds and the number of sub-tiers from season to season, so the in-game rank screen is the best place to check the current numbers.
Free Fire BR Rank: How Rank Points Work

In Ranked Battle Royale, you climb by earning Rank Points (RP):
- Each match has an entry cost, which grows as you rank up. You need to earn more than that cost to gain points.
- Survival earns points. The longer you stay alive and the higher you place, the more RP you get.
- Kills earn points too, and combining kills with a high finish gives the biggest gains.
- Medals add a performance bonus in the upper ranks, rewarding strong all-round matches.
At the lower tiers, playing safe and surviving is often enough to climb. From Heroic upwards, the entry cost rises, and you usually need both a high placement and several eliminations to make progress. Recent updates have also made the climb from Elite Heroic to Master harder, so expect slower progress at the top.
Free Fire CS Rank: How Stars Work

Ranked Clash Squad uses stars instead of points:
- A win gives you a star, and a loss usually takes one away.
- Win streaks can give extra stars, speeding up your climb.
- Each sub-tier needs a set number of stars to move up.
Because CS is round-based 4v4 combat, individual aim and team coordination matter more than survival. A strong squad can climb CS much faster than playing alone, since a few consistent players turn close matches into wins.
How Free Fire Grandmaster Works
Grandmaster is not a points target. It is given to the top 300 players on the leaderboard in each region, for BR and CS separately:
- You need to be in Elite Master territory to have a realistic chance.
- Your place can change daily, since other players keep climbing.
- Falling outside the top 300 drops you back to Elite Master.
Grandmaster is the hardest rank in the game to hold, and it usually takes a lot of matches late in the season to stay inside the cutoff.
Season Reset and Rewards

Each ranked season lasts a few months, with BR and CS running on their own schedules:
- At the start of a new season, your rank drops by one or more tiers, depending on where you finished.
- Rewards are based on your highest rank during the season, so reaching a tier once is enough to earn its rewards.
- Rewards include items, tokens and badges that show your rank, with better rewards at higher tiers.
The reset means a high rank last season gives you a head start, but not a free one. Pushing early in a season, when ranks are less crowded, is often easier than climbing at the end.
Requirements for Ranked Play
You need to meet a few conditions before you can queue for ranked:
- Account level: ranked modes unlock once you reach a minimum account level.
- Honor Score: a low Honor Score can lock you out of ranked until you raise it again. Avoiding AFK and leaving matches keeps it healthy, and how the Honor Score drops and how to raise it is worth knowing if you are ever restricted.
- Squad restrictions: in the higher ranks, there may be limits on how far apart in rank your squad members can be.
Tips to Climb Faster
- Play the mode that suits you. If you are strong in close fights, CS may be easier to climb. If you are patient and good at rotations, BR may suit you more.
- Pick your loadout for ranked. Character skills that help survival and team fights matter in both modes, and choosing active and passive skills for your role makes a real difference.
- Tune your settings. Sensitivity settings that suit your own device improve your aim in every fight.
- Play with a regular squad, especially in CS and the higher BR tiers.
- Know when to stop. A losing streak costs points and stars. Taking a break often saves more progress than pushing through.
- Push early in the season before the higher tiers fill up.
Starting From the Basics
If you are new to ranked, it helps to understand how characters, Diamonds, modes and ranked fit together before you start pushing, since most ranked mistakes come from rushing into higher tiers too early.
