Q4 2025 Update: Goodbye Elite Wild Cards, Hello Crystals & Level 16

Clash Royale’s final major update of 2025 is set to completely reshape progression, rewards, and how you upgrade your favorite cards. With the highly anticipated arrival of card Level 16, the total removal of Elite Wild Cards, a big shift for Magic Items, the introduction of a new cosmetic currency called Crystals, and a major expansion of Trophy Road, this patch could be the biggest shakeup since the game’s launch. The update is expected to go live around November 24, 2025.

🔼 Level 16 & Smoother Upgrade Curve

This isn’t just an extra level tacked on top—Supercell is flattening the entire progression curve.

• Every card level, including Level 15 and the new Level 16, will now require both duplicate cards and Gold again—no more special rules for Elite Levels.

• Earlier levels (especially above Level 11) will require fewer resources, making it easier for everyone to catch up.

• Level 16 costs are designed to be on par with what it took to reach the old Elite Level 15—not a brutal new grind, just “one more level.”

• The steep, exponential growth in upgrade costs is being toned down, making progression much less punishing at the top end.

❌ Elite Wild Cards, Magic Books & Magic Coins—Gone!

Several old progression items are being completely removed:

• Elite Wild Cards will disappear from rewards and shops. If you’ve used them on a card, your progress will be converted into real card copies based on the new requirements. Any unspent EWCs will be swapped for Gems (final rates TBA).

• Magic Books and Magic Coins are also being retired. Books will convert into Wild Cards of the same rarity, Book of Books into Gems, and Magic Coins into Gold.

• Overflowed rewards after conversion (exceeding your card/Gold/Wild Card cap) will be held in temporary overflow, letting you collect the full value.

• This means no more “waiting for the perfect upgrade”—you’ll get more flexibility and better long-term value.

💎 Crystals—A New Cosmetic Currency

One of the most exciting reveals is Crystals, a brand new currency that comes from overflowing max-level cards.

• Crystals are dedicated exclusively to cosmetics—think special emotes, tower skins, and new vanity items in the shop.

• This finally splits “power progression” (cards, Wild Cards, Gold) from “style progression” (Crystals), giving long-time maxed players something meaningful to chase.

🗺️ Trophy Road Extended & Ranked Updates

To keep competitive players invested, Trophy Road is being expanded from 10,000 to 12,000 Trophies with four brand-new arenas.

• Seasonal Arenas are on pause during this expansion, and Ranked mode unlock thresholds will temporarily drop, giving more players access to top-tier play while everyone adapts to the new economy.

• Level 16 will not immediately impact Ranked—card levels are capped at 15 for several months, so you have time to upgrade your main deck before needing to max out.

🎮 What Should Players Do Now?

Don’t rush upgrades or spend resources before the update!

• Save your upgrades—most will get cheaper, letting your resources stretch further.

• Hold onto Magic Books and Elite Wild Cards—their conversion rates are likely much better than using them now.

• Leave unclaimed rewards—cards and Magic Items from Pass Royale or Ranked could pay off more once the new system drops.

• Focusing on your favorite deck cards is the smart play, especially for those pushing competitive modes.

Supercell is teasing “something heroic” and other big changes that haven’t been revealed yet—possibly new Hero systems, more cards and XP levels, a cosmetic shop powered by Crystals, 2v2 Leagues, or even a new Evolution Box and special Clashmas events.
