Clash Royale Reveals Hero Ice Wizard and New Minion Giant Card

Clash Royale is bringing a fresh wave of content through its latest TV Royale, headlined by two new cards, Hero Ice Wizard and Minion Giant, alongside a lineup of new modes and events set to shake up the meta.
Hero Ice Wizard
Hero Ice Wizard arrives with a distinctive ability built around ice-based crowd control. His Hero Ability summons a sneaky snowman near a chosen target. Once it appears, this snowman freezes all enemy troops in the surrounding area.
What makes this mechanic especially interesting is how it gets undone: enemies have to destroy the snowman first to free their frozen troops. This creates a new tactical decision point, whether an opponent rushes to destroy the snowman to free their troops, or lets it be to save Elixir while waiting for the freeze effect to wear off naturally.
Minion Giant
The other new card, Minion Giant, arrives as a flying win-condition costing 4 Elixir. It comes with two key traits that set it apart from other flying cards:
- Only targets buildings (towers/structures), meaning it can't be distracted by regular enemy troops.
- Immune to knockback effects, meaning attacks like Fireball won't push it back or slow its movement, unlike many other flying cards that are vulnerable to this.
The combination of a 4 Elixir cost, a building-only focus, and knockback immunity could make Minion Giant a fairly difficult air win-condition to stop with conventional knockback spells.
Wheel of Modes Challenge
Beyond the two new cards, this TV Royale also announced the Wheel of Modes Challenge, a limited-time game mode. The concept is simple: players hit the Play button, and a spinning wheel randomizes the game mode while automatically handing out a pre-made deck. This format suits players who want quick variety without needing to build their own deck every time they play.
Competitive League Shifts to a 2v2 Format
This season's competitive league brings a significant change: the format is shifting to 2v2 for two weeks. Players who reach the Top 10,000 or complete the competitive trail will earn an exclusive badge as proof of their achievement this season.
Princess Gambit Returns as a Global Tournament
The Princess Gambit global tournament format is also making a comeback. In this format, all participants play with the same limited card pool, meaning match outcomes come down more to skill and strategy than each player's individual card collection. Players who reach the Top 100 will earn an exclusive emote and a badge upgrade.
Minion Academy Album Event
As a companion event, the Minion Academy Album Event has players collecting picture snippets to fill out an album and unlock rewards along the way. One of the standout rewards from this event is a free copy of the Minion Giant card, giving players an additional way to pick up the new card without waiting on chests.
Why This Update Matters
Between a new hero built around freeze-based crowd control, a new knockback-immune air win-condition, a shift to a 2v2 competitive format, and a global tournament built on a limited card pool, this update brings a fair amount of change across both the casual and competitive sides of the game at once. Players active on the competitive ladder in particular will need to adjust their strategy for the 2v2 format, which only runs for two weeks.
