Clash Royale Academy Antics: How to Unlock Minion Giant Free

Minion Giant is free this season — but only through the Academy Antics Album Event, and only if you start now.

Supercell has confirmed the card won't appear in chests until next season. The album isn't the cheapest route to Minion Giant. For the next few weeks, it's the only one.

And the album has a maths problem attached. Here's what it takes.

The album is the only route this season

This is the line that should shape your play.

Supercell's own announcement states that Minion Giant cards will not be available in chests until next season, following the pattern of previous card releases.

So there's no fallback. You can't skip the event and grind chests instead, and you can't buy your way in through normal card acquisition. If you want Minion Giant while it's current, the album is the mechanism.

How the Album Event works

Academy Antics uses the same structure Supercell has run since the 10th Anniversary album, so the mechanics are known even before this season's specifics are published.

The album is divided into 9 Scenes. Each Scene is a picture assembled from 9 Snippets. Complete a Scene and you unlock that Scene's reward; complete all nine and you unlock the grand prize.

That's 81 unique Snippets to finish the album.

This season's story follows Minion Giant's first year at the Minion Academy, with each completed Scene revealing another part of it.

Where Snippets come from

Three sources, and only one is free and reliable:

Daily battle rewards — up to 4 Snippets per day. In previous albums these arrived through your first wins of the day. This is the backbone of a free completion.

The Shop. Snippets can be purchased directly with Gems. This is the paid accelerator.

Limited-time events during the season. Previous albums have run companion events — the anniversary season had an Album Boost week where crown milestones paid out extra Snippets. Supercell has already teased a knowledge-quiz event for this season, so expect similar top-ups.

Snippets come in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Some belong to specific Scenes; others come from a general pool.

The maths, and why you can't start late

Here's the calculation that decides whether you finish.

81 unique Snippets, at up to 4 per day from daily battles, is roughly 21 days of perfect play — and that assumes every single Snippet is one you don't already own.

It won't be. Snippets are randomised, and duplicates start appearing quickly.

When you earn a Snippet you already have, it becomes a Duplicate. Duplicates aren't wasted — they fill a progress bar, and once it's full you receive a Unique Snippet guaranteed to be new. Higher rarities contribute more toward that bar than Commons do.

But the conversion costs you time. Every duplicate is a day's reward that didn't advance your Scene count directly, and the realistic completion window sits meaningfully beyond the 21-day theoretical floor.

The practical conclusion: log in and win your daily battles from day one. A season is roughly four weeks. If the floor is three weeks of flawless collection and duplicates push it further, there is very little slack in the schedule. Missing the first week is how people end the season two Scenes short.

Later Scenes are harder

The difficulty isn't flat across the album.

In previous runs, Scene 1 required nine Common Snippets — trivially achievable. Scene 9 required a mix weighted toward the top rarities, including Epic and Legendary Snippets.

That matters for pacing. Early Scenes fill quickly and give a misleading sense of progress. The back half is where the album slows down, and where duplicates hurt most, because the rare Snippets you need appear least often.

Don't judge your pace on the first week. If you're through three Scenes in five days, that's normal — and it doesn't mean you're ahead.

What else is in the Minion Academy season

Hero Ice Wizard joins as this season's Hero. He slows enemy troops as usual, but activating his ability triggers a freeze — a snowman spawns behind the nearest slowed troop while everything in the area is frozen in place, and your opponent has to destroy the snowman to free their push.

He's unlocked through the upgraded Pass Royale track, or for 200 Hero Coins. Unlike Minion Giant, he isn't tied to the album.

A knowledge event is teased, covering biology, physics and history in a Clash Royale context, with three in-game teachers and quiz-based rewards. Supercell says details come closer to the date.

Victory Run returns as a test, and not every player will see it — those who do may notice variations while Supercell experiments with the format.

One ranked change worth noting: if an Ultimate Champion match ends in a draw, you now lose half the trophies you would have lost from a defeat. The same applies to your opponent.

What to do

Win your daily battles every day, starting today. Four Snippets a day is the entire free economy, and days you skip don't come back.

Don't buy Snippets early. Duplicates make early purchases inefficient — the general pool is at its widest when your collection is empty, so free Snippets are most productive at the start.

Check for companion events. Album Boost-style weeks have historically been the fastest way to catch up if you fall behind.

Bank your Duplicates deliberately. The exchange guarantees a Snippet you don't own, which is worth far more in the back half of the album than the front.

Don't count on chests. Minion Giant isn't in them until next season, and by then the album's 1,750 cards will be gone.
