BrownDust2 x Chained Soldier 2: Every Date and Character
By Rivan Wi 8 September 2026, 18:00 WIB
The Mato Defense Force arrives in BrownDust2 on 10 September, and the collaboration runs for roughly four weeks — but not all three characters show up at once.
Ren Yamashiro doesn't arrive until 23 September, two weeks into an event that closes on 7 October. If you're saving for all three, that gap is the thing to plan around.
Here's the full schedule.
The short version
- Opens after maintenance 10 September 2026, closes 7 October (UTC). JP and KR list 8 October.
- Three characters: Kyouka Uzen, Tenka Izumo, Ren Yamashiro.
- Ren arrives 23 September — half the window, same deadline.
- Beyond the banners: an Event Pack story, two season events, Special Skins, Fantasia Square avatars, exclusive gear and a dedicated Burst progression system.
- You pull Costumes, not characters. Duplicates feed the +0 to +5 upgrade path.
- Kyouka's release date isn't confirmed in available material.
The staggered release is the planning problem
Most collaborations drop their full roster at launch. This one doesn't.
- Tenka Izumo arrives 10 September.
- Ren Yamashiro follows 23 September.
- The event closes 7 October regardless.
That gives Ren a window of roughly two weeks against Tenka's four. Half the time, same deadline.
Two consequences worth acting on:
- Don't spend everything at launch. If Ren is the one you want, the temptation on day one is to pull on whoever's available and hope you recover. Four weeks isn't long enough to rebuild a full pity count from scratch in most gacha economies.
- Decide your priority before 10 September. With a two-week gap between releases, this isn't a decision you can defer and still act on.
One detail I can't confirm: the available material specifies dates for Tenka and Ren but doesn't state Kyouka Uzen's. The reasonable assumption is that she arrives with Tenka on the 10th, but that's an assumption rather than a confirmed schedule. Check the in-game notice before planning around it.
Who the three are
All three are commanders of the Mato Defense Force, the organisation at the centre of Chained Soldier — known in Japanese as Mato Seihei no Slave.
- Kyouka Uzen
- Tenka Izumo
- Ren Yamashiro
Each enters BrownDust2 with skill cutscenes redrawn in the game's own visual style, which the official Collab PV showcases at length. The tie-in is to Season 2 of the anime, produced by Passione and Hayabusa Film.
It's more than a character banner
This is where the collaboration is larger than most:
- A dedicated Event Pack story — collaboration narrative content rather than a reskinned existing mode.
- Two season events running across the period.
- Special Skins, Fantasia Square avatars and exclusive gear.
- A dedicated Burst progression system built specifically for the collaboration.
That last one matters most for how you spend your time. A collaboration-specific progression track means the event isn't only about pulling — there's a system to advance, and systems have completion requirements that don't care how lucky you got on the banner.
If the Burst track gates rewards behind progress rather than pulls, players who engage early finish it and players who arrive in the final week don't. Four weeks sounds generous until a staggered release compresses the second half.
What you're actually pulling for
Worth understanding if you're new to BrownDust2, because it changes what a collaboration means here.
BrownDust2's gacha distributes Costumes, not characters. Companions are the units; Costumes are the versions of them that carry distinct skills, and switching Costumes mid-battle is how you chain skill rotations rather than a cosmetic choice.
Costumes upgrade from +0 to +5 using Costume Designs, reducing skill cooldowns and raising stats. So acquiring one is the start of an investment rather than the end of it.
That has two implications for this collaboration:
- A single copy isn't the finish line. Duplicates feed the upgrade path, which means a collaboration Costume you pull once and never upgrade performs well below what guides describe.
- The skill each Costume carries matters more than the character on it. Judge the three by what their skills do in your grid, not by which Mato Defense Force commander you like most.
Combat runs on a 3×4 tactical grid with set turn orders and skill chains, so a new Costume is evaluated by how it slots into an existing rotation — not in isolation.
The dates, precisely
- 10 September (after maintenance) — collaboration opens. Tenka Izumo available.
- 23 September — Ren Yamashiro arrives.
- 7 October (UTC) — collaboration ends on the English schedule.
- 8 October — the JP and KR local schedule.
That regional difference is small but real. If you're following a Japanese or Korean guide while playing on the global client, you have one day less than they do. Work from your own in-game timer.
How to approach it
Set your target before launch. Three characters across a staggered release and a four-week window means splitting your currency is the most likely way to end up with none of them.
Clear the Event Pack story early. Story content is usually the most time-consuming part of a collaboration and the easiest to leave until it's too late.
Start the Burst progression on day one. A dedicated progression system with a fixed end date rewards early engagement more than a banner does.
Claim the free items as they unlock. Avatars, skins and gear distributed through the event tend to have their own claim windows inside the wider period.
Don't wait for Ren to start playing. The two season events and the Event Pack are running from the 10th, and there's no advantage to arriving late.
What isn't confirmed
- Kyouka Uzen's release date.
- The banner structure — whether the three share a pool or run separately.
- What the Burst progression system requires, and what it awards.
- Which rewards are free and which sit behind the paid Event Pack.
- Whether the collaboration characters return in future reruns.
That last point is worth weighing before you decide to skip. Collaboration units in most games don't rerun reliably, and licensed crossovers depend on the licence still being active when a rerun would happen. Nothing published says either way here.
Getting the account ready
BrownDust2 measures an account by its Costume collection, Companion roster and gear — and a four-week collaboration with a staggered release rewards accounts that can afford to commit to a target rather than spreading thin. Browse verified BrownDust2 accounts if you'd rather enter the collaboration with limited Costumes and Diamonds already banked, book BrownDust2 hourly services to clear Story Packs and event content while the crossover runs, or push Arena and seasonal ranked modes through BrownDust2 boosting before 7 October.
