BrownDust2 Halloween Update Oct 8: Nekyndalia, Fiend Hunter & More
By Sir Ayup
The BrownDust2 Halloween Update goes live on October 8, 2026, and it opens a full month of spooky content built around Character Pack 11, "Spook-tacular Night." Here at gamemarket.gg, we went through everything in the October roadmap: a new mummy maid costume, a werewolf skin for Tyr, a first-person minigame and a complete rework of Fiend Hunter. The update also arrives in two halves. October 8 brings Unraveling Mummy Nekyndalia and most of the system changes, while October 22 adds Sealed Desires Aquila, a new Fiend with the Guard Down system and big changes to Guild Raid and Golden Colosseum. Below is what each half contains and what is worth preparing before maintenance ends.
Character Pack 11: Spook-tacular Night

Spook-tacular Night is the story at the centre of October. Master teams up with Ghost Hunter Aquila to enter a haunted mansion, where Rou and Sonya have gone missing. Rumour says a terrifying ghost lives inside, and while the two search room by room, a spirit that has been hiding in the mansion quietly starts following Master.
Long-time players will recognise the setting. The pack takes place in the same world as Character Pack 5, "Rou's Labyrinth", so returning characters and locations tie it back to an older story rather than starting from scratch.
Everything else in the Halloween update hangs off this pack. Both new costumes, both Season Events, the new personal stories and the haunted-mansion minigame all draw from the same setting, which gives October a stronger theme than a typical monthly update.
Unraveling Mummy Nekyndalia

The first new costume is Unraveling Mummy Nekyndalia, the maid of the haunted mansion, arriving on October 8. Her bandages keep coming loose, but she runs the mansion with strict, meticulous care.
Her kit is built around one idea: her Chain DMG grows with the number of enemies carrying a Mark. That makes her a payoff costume. On her own she does not create the conditions she wants, so her value depends on having teammates who spread Marks across multiple targets before she acts.
That has a practical consequence for pulling. If your roster already includes reliable Mark appliers, Nekyndalia slots into an existing plan. If it does not, expect her damage to look modest until you build around her, and check her full skill description in-game before committing resources. The developers also showed her Skill Cutscene ahead of launch, so the presentation side is already known even if the final numbers are not.
Clumsy Wuff Tyr Special Skin

Clumsy Wuff Tyr is a new Special Skin for Innocent Bunny Tyr, also landing on October 8. Tyr dresses up as a werewolf for Halloween, but the costume does nothing for her nerves: she is just as timid as ever and still cannot stop crying.
The skin comes with its own avatar and Skill Cutscene. Because it is a Special Skin for an existing costume, you need Innocent Bunny Tyr to make use of it. Tyr fans also get more than a skin this month, since Innocent Bunny Tyr is one of the four costumes receiving a new personal story in October.
Season Event: Loyal Maid and Dark Magica's Return

Loyal Maid is the first Season Event for Character Pack 11, starting on October 8. It follows Nekyndalia's personal story from the moment she wakes up inside a coffin in the haunted mansion, where she had been sealed away asleep. Instead of haunting the place, she starts working there as a maid, and the event follows her first steps as a rookie.
Fiend Hunter opens the month with a rerun. Dark Magica returns as October's first Fiend Hunter boss, now with the Water property. Her mechanics revolve around applying different debuffs depending on her current status, so read her state before each turn instead of relying on one fixed rotation.
She is also the first boss to run under the reworked Fiend Hunter rules, which change how scores and difficulty work.
Fiend Hunter Rework and Battle Record

The biggest battle change on October 8 is the Fiend Hunter rework. The mode moves to a single-run format similar to Guild Raid, and your ranking is now decided by your single highest score during the Fiend Hunter period.
Difficulty has been streamlined into five levels:
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Very Hard
- Challenge: the final tier, where rankings are decided by total damage dealt.
The companion feature is Battle Record. It lets you load a turn-by-turn record from a previous level or a Practice Battle, and when you move up a level, it can automatically reproduce the skill order, formation and battle settings you used before. In other words, once a team clears Normal, you can replay the same plan on Hard without inputting every turn again.
There are two limits to keep in mind:
- Same team only: Battle Record cannot be used if your team composition differs from the previous level.
- Stops on changes: playback halts if the recorded skill order or other battle conditions change during combat.
The result is a mode that rewards one well-planned run over repeated grinding. Test your lineup in Practice Battle first, record a clean clear, then let Battle Record carry it up the difficulty ladder until the boss starts surviving long enough to break the pattern.
New Minigame: Mansion Runaway

Mansion Runaway is October's new minigame, and it looks nothing like the usual BrownDust2 fare. It is played from a first-person perspective. Your goal in each stage is to collect every piece of candy and reach the exit while staying out of reach of the mansion's pursuers.
Each pursuer has its own chase pattern, so a route that dodges one can walk you straight into another. Items scattered through the stages help you evade them, and using those items at the right moment matters more than speed.
The minigame has two modes:
- Normal Mode: four stages, with pursuers appearing gradually as you progress.
- Challenge Mode: a time-limited run where you compete for the highest score.
Mansion Runaway also has its own mission list, and completing those missions rewards a variety of wallpapers. For collectors, that makes the missions the main reason to replay it beyond a first clear.
Tower of Salvation, Golden Colosseum and Taros

Tower of Salvation gets fresh options on October 8. New artifacts are being added, existing ones are being rebalanced, and Burst effects can now be upgraded directly through the in-game shop. If an artifact was carrying your current strategy, check its new values after maintenance before your next climb.
Golden Colosseum Seasons 45 and 46 use a 5x4 map with 6v6 rules. Four costumes are banned during these seasons:
- Red Hood Rou
- Nature's Claw Rou
- Demon's Daughter Seir
- Top Idol Helena
Four Blessings are also banned: Curse of Limits II, Vanguard's Resolve, Blessing of Eternity and Silenced Vanguard. Teams leaning on any of these need a replacement plan before the season starts.
Taros Tactical Manual Season 9 takes on a Halloween theme as well. Its 3x3 bingo board features fairy-tale, Magical Girl and idol-themed costumes, which suits the holiday mood without being tied to the mansion story.
More Gold, Refining Powder and Quality-of-Life Changes

The change that helps every account is an economy boost. Gold and Refining Powder rewards are increasing across several regular sources:
- Daily and Weekly Missions
- Permanent Login Events
- Diner Sales
- Making a wish at the statue of the goddess
Since these are all routine sources, the extra income adds up without any extra effort, which matters most for players who are always short on upgrade materials.

Beyond that, October 8 brings a long list of smaller improvements:
- In-game OST browsing: the BGM page is split into Favorites, All, Pack, Battle and OST tabs, and any track can be favourited.
- Title screen selector: choose between the Snowfield Justia and Sacred Justia title screens in settings.
- Dialogue Portrait Viewer: view the expressions of costumes that appeared in the story, from Standing Illustrations or Costume Details.
- SD Character Viewer: a new Costume Info tab shows a costume's SD illustration and plays its animation when tapped.
- Battle quest counting: missions like "Battle in a Hunting Ground" now also count Goblin Ruins, Slime Empire and Magic Crystal Cave.
- Guild Raid lock: once a Guild Raid begins, members can no longer leave or be removed until it ends.
- Skill order button: the battle preparation screen gains a button that shows the order in which character skills will fire.
- "Companion" becomes "Character": the term changes across the game, and "Temporary Companion" becomes "Temporary Character."
The title screen option comes with one exception. During collaboration periods, the collaboration's own title screen is shown regardless of your setting, so while an event like the BrownDust2 x Chained Soldier 2 collaboration is running, your chosen screen simply waits until it ends.
Personal Stories and Slice of Life

October adds new personal stories for four costumes: Unraveling Mummy Nekyndalia, Sealed Desires Aquila, Innocent Bunny Tyr and Boo Ghost Granhildr. Granhildr's inclusion fits the theme neatly, since she is already one of the game's ghost-themed costumes.
A new Slice of Life chapter is also coming, set after the events of Spook-tacular Night. It shows Nekyndalia's everyday routine as the mansion's maid and a more adorable side of Aquila than the main story gives her.
What Arrives on October 22

The second half of the Halloween season lands two weeks later. Its headline is Sealed Desires Aquila, a jiangshi who became a Ghost Hunter. Her playstyle is high risk by design: she consumes her own HP and puts a debuff on herself that disables HP recovery, and in return she gains a buff and deals massive damage. Teams that want her will need a plan for keeping her alive without healing.
The rest of October 22 includes:
- Broken Bonds: the second Season Event, about the incident that changed Aquila's once-friendly view of ghosts.
- Franken Lady (Fire): a new Fiend Hunter boss whose attacks can randomly apply buffs and debuffs, and the first Fiend with the Guard Down system, which changes her appearance mid-battle when certain conditions are met.
- Guild Raid changes: max level rises to 15, and Overkill scores now count from the top 10 members instead of the top 3.
- Morghenia (No Property): a new Guild Raid boss whose attacks inflict debuffs and affect Costume skill cooldowns.
- Golden Colosseum overhaul: the weekly mission changes from "Win 40 battles" to "Participate in 40 battles", Blessings are rebalanced, opponents stay hidden until the battle begins, and Victory Points are shown during battle.
- Costume Cost system: each costume gets a cost based on its usage rate in the previous season, and your team must fit within a point limit. It debuts in Seasons 47 and 48 on a 5x5 map with 5v5 rules, with no costume or Blessing bans.
- Soul-Wager Trial Season 3: new Unique-grade pieces, with cost and stat adjustments for some existing ones.
- Fated Guest: Sealed Desires Aquila visits Glupy Diner, and Neon Savior Angelica gets a follow-up story.
- Replay Completed Packs: revisit packs after clearing their Main Quests on Very Hard, with no repeat rewards.
- Guidebook and shop updates: the Guidebook gains categories and search, and surplus Slimes and Recruitment Contracts can be sold in the shop.
The Guild Raid change deserves attention from guild leaders. With Burst and Crit DMG Conversion pushing damage up, scores were bunching together and the top three members decided too much. Counting ten members means a guild's depth now matters as much as its strongest players.
Your BrownDust2 Halloween Checklist
With two update dates and a lot of moving parts, this order keeps October simple:
- Check your Mark appliers: before pulling for Nekyndalia, make sure your roster can spread Marks, since her damage depends on it.
- Record a clean Fiend Hunter run: clear Dark Magica on a lower difficulty with a stable team, then use Battle Record to climb.
- Rework your Golden Colosseum team: replace any banned costumes or Blessings before Seasons 45 and 46 begin.
- Collect your routine rewards: Daily Missions, Diner Sales and the goddess statue now pay more Gold and Refining Powder.
- Plan for October 22: save resources if you want Sealed Desires Aquila, and talk to your guild about the new top-10 Overkill scoring.
The October 8 update covers most of what changes day to day, from the reworked Fiend Hunter to the bigger resource gains. October 22 then reshapes the competitive side. Prepare your team for Nekyndalia and the new Fiend Hunter format first, and the second half of the Halloween season will be much easier to handle.
