NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Showdown Sandforge Season: What's Coming Sept 2

NARAKA: BLADEPOINT's Showdown mode is getting its next major update, Sandforge Season, going live September 2 (PT). The preview trailer for this update carries a "work in progress" disclaimer throughout, so while the direction is clear, some specifics may still change before launch. Here's everything shown so far.
New Boss: Vasshani
Sandforge Season introduces a new Showdown boss, Vasshani, shown in preview footage wielding a massive curved blade alongside ranged elemental attacks in a rocky, storm-swept arena. As with previous Showdown bosses, Vasshani is expected to serve as a major combat test tied to the season's new mechanics and gear.
New Mechanic: Aegis-Break Clash
One of the season's headline additions is Aegis-Break Clash, a new combat interaction where certain moves can collide directly with melee attacks from large enemies. Landing a successful clash interrupts the enemy's attack and weakens their Astral Aegis, opening a window to follow up with a powerful counterattack. This looks like it's aimed at giving players a more active way to punish big boss attacks rather than just dodging around them.
New Mechanic: Starburst
Sandforge Season also introduces Starburst, a new elemental-damage-focused system built around several new Souljades and Potentials:
- New Souljade [Primal Starfall]: Critical hits from Elemental Damage summon a Meteor Rain, and Elemental Strikes can detonate that Meteor Rain for extra effect.
- New Souljade [Star-Shattering Force]: Detonating Meteor Rain increases Attack.
- New Potential [Starfall Strike]: Increases both Meteor Strike and Starburst damage.
- New Potential [Starburst Art]: Triggering Starburst grants a temporary Elemental Damage bonus.
- New Potential [Meteor Rain Composure]: Meteor Rain summoned by Souljades gains an Elemental Attribute, meaning the resulting Meteor Strike and Starburst both benefit from Elemental Damage bonuses.
Together, this system looks built around chaining elemental crits into meteor detonations for burst windows, giving elemental-focused builds a more interactive combo loop than before.
More New Souljades and Potentials
Beyond the Starburst-specific gear, Sandforge Season adds a broader wave of new equipment to build around:
- New Souljades: Pyreheart, Venom Tempering, Ice Ring Break, and Thunder Rove.
- New Potentials: Rage Impact, Fury Rejuvenation, Steely Edge, and Primal Force.
Since these are all shown as work-in-progress, exact effects and numbers for each aren't finalized in the preview footage, and it's best to treat any specific pairing or build ideas as very early speculation until the season is live and player testing can confirm which combos actually perform.
Hero Adjustments: Kurumi
Kurumi is receiving a notable rework to her Ultimate and healing kit this season. Based on the preview, her changes include:
- Her Ultimate now consumes 50% less resource to activate.
- When Kurumi lands an Ice or Thunder Elemental Strike, or inflicts Terrified or Burn, her healing circle now gains the corresponding Elemental effect.
This suggests Kurumi is being pushed toward a more elemental-hybrid support role, where landing status effects actively strengthens her healing output rather than her healing existing as a separate, disconnected part of her kit.
Recast System Overhaul
The Souljade Recast system is getting a significant rework alongside the new season:
- A new Spirit Essence progress bar has been added to the Recast screen. Each Attribute Recast or Value Recast grants Spirit Essence, and reaching 120 lets you claim a Flux Shard directly from the Recast screen.
- Attribute Recast no longer produces rare Attributes on its own.
- A new rare Attribute, [Sortilege], increases the chance of making two Critical Hit rolls by 20%, taking the better result, with the effective chance capped at 100%.
- A new Jade Essence Crystal item can be spent to boost a Souljade's Attribute value by roughly the equivalent of 40 normal Value Recasts in one go. If used on a rare Attribute, it immediately raises that value to its maximum. Any value pushed beyond the cap is refunded as materials based on the excess amount.
Overall, this looks aimed at cutting down on the grindiness of chasing perfect rare Attribute rolls, giving players a more direct path to strong gear instead of relying purely on repeated random recasts.
Weekly Quest Overhaul
Starting with Sandforge Season, Weekly Quests are shifting away from an all-or-nothing structure. Instead of needing to complete every single Weekly Quest, each quest now grants Activeness Points, and reaching a required point total unlocks all of that week's rewards. Completing Weekly Quests also contributes to Legend Jade progress, with four weeks of accumulated progress earning 1 Legend Jade.
Season Journey Reward Changes
The Season Journey event is also getting reward adjustments. Starting next season, Souljade rewards in Season Journey will be replaced with Souljade Choice Gifts, letting players pick which Souljade they actually want rather than receiving a fixed one. The previous Flux Jade Shard reward is also being replaced with Legend Jade.
Separately, the Season Journey's daily login track is confirmed to run for at least 7 days, with completing any Showdown stage each day unlocking rewards, capped off with a Legendary Crystal, a rare item used to convert a designated Attribute on a Showdown Soul Jade into a random rare Attribute.
New Store Item: Springbloom Edge
Rounding out the update, a new Legendary Katana Skin, Springbloom Edge, is arriving in the Showdown Store. Based on preview art, the skin leans into a pale wood-and-gold floral design rather than Naraka's usual combat-heavy aesthetic, giving players a softer, nature-themed option for their katana loadout.
When Does Sandforge Season Start?
Sandforge Season is confirmed for September 2 (PT). Since the preview trailer carries a work-in-progress disclaimer throughout, exact numbers for the new Souljades, Potentials, and hero adjustments should be treated as a strong early look rather than the final patch notes, worth double-checking once the season actually goes live.
