Bleach Brave Souls 11th Anniversary Aizen Arrives 15 August

KLab has revealed the headline unit of Bleach: Brave Souls' 11th Anniversary Summons, and it's the character the series always saves for a milestone: Sosuke Aizen, rendered in the Hōgyoku-fused form from the Fake Karakura Town arc — the winged, third-eyed transformation with the crimson orbs. The Summons opens on 15 August at 16:00 JST, and the new 5★ Aizen (11th Anniversary Version) arrives with a kit built around raw offensive pressure: Sprinter +2, Havoc +20%, and Marauder, the ability that nullifies melee guard and Melee Attack Resistance outright. Here's what's confirmed, what those abilities actually do in play, and how to approach the banner.

When it opens, where you are

15 August, 16:00 JST. Converted:

• 07:00 UTC
• 14:00 WIB (Western Indonesia)
• 09:00 CEST / 03:00 EDT

Brave Souls banners run on Japan time regardless of your region, so set your reminder against JST rather than assuming a local midnight rollover.

The form KLab chose

The showcase art depicts Aizen in his Hōgyoku-fused butterfly form — the black bodysuit with magenta orbs, the wing-like appendages marked with eye motifs, the third eye on his forehead, hair loose rather than slicked back.

That's a deliberate pick. It's the stage of Aizen's transformation that represents peak power before his final defeat, and it's the version Brave Souls has kept in reserve rather than releasing on a routine banner. Anniversary units are where KLab spends its most recognisable designs, and this is one of them.

What his abilities do

Community documentation of the new unit lists three headline traits:

Sprinter +2 — increases his number of Flash Steps. In Brave Souls terms, that's more dashes before the ability needs to recover, which translates directly into mobility during a fight: more repositioning, more gap-closing, more dodging out of a boss's telegraphed attack.

Havoc +20% — increases the area-of-effect of his strong attack. Wider strong attacks matter most in content where enemies arrive in groups, since a single swing clearing more of the screen is a straightforward throughput gain.

Marauder — nullifies melee guard and Melee Attack Resistance. This is the most consequential of the three. Guard-nullification means enemies that would normally block or reduce melee damage simply don't, which removes an entire category of defensive check from your damage.

Alongside those, he's described as dealing immense damage and inflicting Dominate+, the debuff-inflicting status effect.

The practical read: he's an offensive unit with mobility, area coverage and defence-piercing — a combination that suits content where enemies both cluster and resist melee. Verify the exact values on the in-game character sheet once he's live, since community-sourced ability lists can differ from final tuning.

What Marauder actually changes

Worth expanding, because it's the ability most likely to affect where you use him.

Plenty of Brave Souls content places enemies that guard or resist melee damage — a design intended to push players toward specific damage types or force them to break guards before committing. Marauder skips that step entirely.

For players whose roster is melee-heavy, that's not a percentage bonus, it's access. Content that was awkward because your best units couldn't reliably get through becomes content you can approach with your best units.

How anniversary banners have worked

Brave Souls anniversary Summons have historically been the most player-friendly of the year, and previous cycles give a reasonable shape to expect:

• Elevated 5★ rates compared with standard banners
• Choose-a-character tickets at set milestones of x10 summons, letting you pick a featured unit rather than relying on luck
• Free summon campaigns running alongside the paid banner
• Repost and login campaigns distributing Spirit Orbs and droplets

None of that is confirmed for this specific Summons — check the in-game details on the 15th. But if a guaranteed-choice ticket appears at a milestone step, that's the number your Spirit Orb budget should target, because it converts a gamble into a purchase.

Budgeting your Spirit Orbs

Two things worth weighing before the 15th:

The 11th Anniversary campaign has been running since 23 July, with original-design Grimmjow and Ulquiorra as its earlier featured units — our 11th Anniversary breakdown covers that update in full. If you spent heavily there, your reserves for Aizen are thinner than they feel.

Anniversary cycles in Brave Souls run long. KLab has a well-established pattern of extending anniversary celebrations across months rather than weeks, which means more banners are likely to follow this one. Spending everything on the first anniversary unit you like is how players end up unable to pull for a later one they wanted more.

The honest framing: if Aizen is the anniversary unit you've been waiting for, this is the banner. If you're pulling because it's an anniversary banner and anniversary banners are good, expect more of them.

Should you pull?

Yes, if your roster leans melee and you regularly hit content where guard or melee resistance blocks your progress. Marauder addresses that specifically, and it's not a common ability.

Yes, if you're an Aizen collector. The Hōgyoku form is the design fans have wanted, and anniversary versions historically stay relevant longer than routine releases.

Consider waiting if your Spirit Orbs are already low from the July anniversary wave. More anniversary content is likely, and a half-committed pull that stops short of a guaranteed ticket is the worst outcome available.

Check the banner structure before committing. If there's a Choose-a-5★ ticket at step 25 or 50 as previous banners have offered, the calculation changes entirely — you'd be buying a guarantee rather than betting on rates.

Get anniversary-ready

Anniversary units perform best on accounts with the Character Souls, Accessories and link slots to support them — and that infrastructure is the slow half of Brave Souls.
