Arknights: Endfield’s next major update, Dreamscape of Wind and Snow, launches on September 2, 2026 and shifts the story away from Wuling into the supernatural Snowy Forest outside Yinglung Pass. The update is headlined by Typhoeus, a Nature Striker built around aerial bow attacks and slowing enemies, while a second wave of content on September 24 adds the time-loop city of Suiming and a free Physical Defender, Purrchena

The important distinction right now is between what has actually been announced and what still needs to wait for the full update. Typhoeus’s broad combat identity, the new regional boss, Suiming’s time-loop structure, Purrchena’s event acquisition, and several supporting activities are confirmed. Exact banner economics, optimized builds, and the long-term meta impact are not.

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow release date

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow launches September 2, 2026.

The update follows Version 1.4 Homecoming, which expanded Wuling, introduced Arcane and Liino, and added a larger layer to Endfield’s industrial systems. Dreamscape instead moves the Endministrator toward a colder and more supernatural setting.

If you are still finishing the previous update, our Arknights: Endfield 1.4 Homecoming — Everything New in Today's Update covers the major systems and story additions already in the game.

The update is not delivering all of its content on the same day. Suiming and the Purrchena Tribute Event begin September 24, giving the version a clear second content milestone later in the month.

The Snowy Forest is the new story setting

The September 2 portion centers on the Snowy Forest outside Yinglung Pass.

Typhoeus travels there while pursuing stories connected to Sami legends and eventually encounters the Endministrator and Chief Engineer Andre. The group becomes trapped inside enchanted fog that causes travelers to circle through the forest, turning the area into more than a conventional snow biome.

The environmental presentation is also more reactive than the name alone suggests. As the party moves farther into the region, snow visibly accumulates on characters’ bodies and hair.

That is currently presented as part of the environment and atmosphere. There has been no official confirmation that accumulating snow functions as a survival meter, stamina penalty, movement debuff, or other player-managed cold system.

That distinction matters because promotional footage can easily make environmental effects look mechanical when they are primarily visual.

Typhoeus is the headline Operator

Typhoeus is confirmed as a Nature Striker who fights with a large bow.

Her revealed combat tools give a clearer picture than a cinematic trailer alone:

  • She can leap into the air and attack multiple enemies.

  • Her aerial position allows her to avoid at least some ground-based attacks.

  • She can deploy a Barrage Array that slows enemies.

  • Her offensive profile includes concentrated Nature Burst damage

This suggests a Striker that combines direct damage with positioning and control rather than simply standing at range and firing.

The aerial component is particularly worth watching once the character is playable. Avoiding ground pressure while continuing an attack sequence could give Typhoeus favorable windows against enemies whose most dangerous attacks stay close to the floor.

But this is not yet the point to publish a definitive build.

We still need her complete numbers, weapon interactions, gear options, rotation timing, and live combat testing before deciding how she compares with established Nature teams. Until then, the responsible description is straightforward: Typhoeus is a Nature Striker built around bow attacks, aerial mobility, slows, and Burst damage.

Gloomwald’s Rage is the new regional boss

The Snowy Forest culminates in an encounter with a new regional boss called Gloomwald’s Rage

The preview establishes the boss as part of the forest storyline, but there is not enough confirmed encounter data yet to recommend a specific counter-team or damage type.

That makes pre-farming around an assumed weakness unnecessarily risky.

For players trying to improve their current endgame roster before the new region arrives, our Arknights: Endfield Echoes of War Guide: Best Team Comps covers the permanent combat mode already available rather than speculating about an unreleased boss.

The Snowy Forest has its own musical identity

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow is also putting unusual emphasis on regional music.

The Snowy Forest soundtrack draws from Sámi musical culture, mixed with JRPG, fantasy, and electronic influences. Finnish electronic musician Vilma Jää contributed to the update’s Nordic folk-electronic sound.

That fits the update’s broader approach to regional identity: the snow setting is not being treated only as a visual palette change.

The environment, Typhoeus’s interest in Sami legends, supernatural fog, and the music are all pointing in the same direction.

Suiming opens September 24

The most mechanically unusual piece of the update may actually arrive three weeks after launch.

Suiming opens on September 24 as a puzzle-exploration map built around a repeating 15-minute time loop

The entire city acts as part of the puzzle.

During each loop:

  • The city’s tides rise and fall.

  • Routes that were inaccessible can become available.

  • Players search for parts needed to repair the Waking Bell.

  • The goal is to make progress before the Blight Tide arrives.

  • When the tide rises and time resets, collected parts are retained.

That last rule is what turns the concept into progression rather than repetition.

You are not simply replaying the same 15 minutes from zero. Items survive the reset, allowing each loop to open additional possibilities and reveal more of the city.

It gives Dreamscape of Wind and Snow a second exploration identity alongside the Snowy Forest: the opening area emphasizes supernatural wilderness, while Suiming turns exploration itself into a timed puzzle.

Purrchena is a free Physical Defender

Also starting on September 24 is the Purrchena Tribute Event.

Purrchena is confirmed as a Physical Defender, and players can obtain both the Operator and her recommended weapon, Dessert Moment, through the event.

Her revealed combat role is primarily protective and supportive.

She can raise her shield to protect nearby teammates and distribute gift boxes that either heal allies or activate different support effects.

More importantly for progression, completing all six event missions provides enough copies to maximize the Potential of both Purrchena and Dessert Moment

That makes her one of the easiest parts of the update to plan around because the acquisition route has already been explained.

You do not need to make assumptions about a banner or save currency based on incomplete information. The confirmed action is simply to complete the event once it opens.

Other confirmed content

Dreamscape of Wind and Snow is larger than its story zones and two Operators.

The announced supporting content includes:

  • Trial of the Bow

  • Chubby Lung Attacks

  • Runners’ Steeplechase

  • New Echoes of War seasons

  • Additional player-experience improvements

The detailed rules and reward structures for all of these activities have not been published to the same degree as Suiming or Purrchena, so there is little value in guessing at optimal strategies yet.

The new Echoes of War seasons are easier to contextualize because the mode already exists. Players unfamiliar with how its current high-difficulty stages work can use our Echoes of War team guide as a starting point, while remembering that new seasons can change enemy layouts and therefore change which teams are most practical.

What is not confirmed yet

The preview gives us a substantial content list, but several questions should remain open until the game itself or full patch documentation answers them.

We do not yet have enough verified information to treat the following as settled:

  • Typhoeus’s finalized best weapon and gear setup

  • Her strongest team composition

  • Exact damage comparisons against existing Nature damage dealers

  • Gloomwald’s Rage’s optimal counters

  • Complete rewards for every side event

  • The full long-term value of Typhoeus in Echoes of War

  • Whether any visual snow accumulation produces direct gameplay penalties

That is why this article is a preview rather than a build guide.

Once Typhoeus is live and the numbers can be tested properly, a build or pull analysis will be more useful than trying to turn preview footage into conclusions.

How to prepare before September 2

There is no need to rebuild your account around an unreleased Operator yet.

The practical preparation is much simpler.

Finish any Homecoming content you still care about, keep a healthy stock of general upgrade materials, and make sure your established team can handle current high-level activities before investing heavily in a new character.

Players who recently picked up Arcane can also use our AKE Arcane Pull or Save? Dual-Role Nature Caster 1.4 Analysis to understand where the current Nature roster stands before Typhoeus introduces another option.

For exploration preparation, the older Endfield Sword Vault Dale — Full Region Walkthrough is also useful for understanding how Endfield has previously structured large regional progression, although Snowy Forest and Suiming are clearly introducing their own mechanics.

The update has two dates worth remembering

For now, the schedule is straightforward:

September 2, 2026 — Dreamscape of Wind and Snow launches, bringing Typhoeus, the Snowy Forest storyline, and Gloomwald’s Rage.

September 24, 2026 — Suiming opens with its 15-minute time loop, while the Purrchena Tribute Event begins and provides the free Physical Defender and Dessert Moment weapon.

That staggered structure is worth keeping in mind. September 2 is the beginning of the version, not the point when every announced feature becomes available.

Prepare your Endfield roster

A new region and another Echoes of War cycle put more value on having several usable Operators rather than relying on one highly invested team. Players looking for an established roster can browse Arknights: Endfield Accounts, keep farming and progression moving through Arknights: Endfield Hourly Services, or get help with difficult content through Arknights: Endfield Boosting.
